The SSD Application Process

What Is The Process To Get Benefits?

If you have been injured or contracted a disease which prevents you from working, you may be entitled to SDI benefits. But how does this work?

Step

1

The first step is preparing your claim. We will meet with you and listen to your story to determine if you have a case for receiving benefits. If you do have a claim, we will ensure Social Security has the evidence you’ll need to back you up, including medical records, educational/employment records, and proof of credits earned in the system. We prepare a claim with all of the necessary documentation and send it in to the Social Security Administration. (SSA)

Step

2

The second step is to wait. The SSA says that the average wait time for a case to process is 3-5 months, however it could be much longer. Eventually, you will receive a letter in the mail from the SSA. This will tell you if your claim for benefits was accepted or denied.

If your claim was accepted, congratulations! If it was not, however, hope is not yet lost. two thirds of all claims are initially denied, and many of those are eventually reversed through the appeals process. If you need more information on that, visit the Denied SSI page on our website.  However your case goes, W.K. White & Associates will be there with you every step of the way!
